Control unit for steam cookers in large kitchens and canteens

For the development of a new product generation, the client, a market leader of, besides others, steam cookers in large kitchens and canteens, was looking for a touch display solution that could easily resist common environmental conditions such as heat, humidity and cleaning agents. For a partnership, he was also looking for guaranteed long-term availability of the hardware of at least 12 years as well as the possibility to customise the HMIs.

We quickly offered the customer a customised version of our Vincell 7.0" SG PCT with i.MX537 (predecessor model of the SANTARO 7.0 SG). Thanks to our many years of experience with professional kitchen equipment, we could easily adapt our hardware to the desired requirement profile. We modified the HMI control unit (a single board computer) and added cooling elements to create a heat balance and raise the temperature range to the required level. To prevent vapours and moisture from penetrating the technology in the first place, we chose the flush-mount installation variant. The 7" touch display was hardened accordingly and extended by a plastic frame, ensuring flawless operation in daily use.

We were able to deliver the product solution before the deadline. The customer was more than satisfied with the result, so in the follow-up order, the complete product family was equipped with the HMIs from SECO. The customer is currently planning to update its products and will equip all devices with the successor model SANTARO 7.0 SG. Furthermore, the customer now installs single-board computers from SECO as standard in all its products, even without a touch display.
