Hardware and software integration for high precision CNC machinery

What challenges we faced

The customer, a leading company in the field of machine tools specialized in vertical machining centers (VMCs), horizontal machining centers (HMCs), CNC lathes, and rotary tables, was looking for a modular solution with low-power consumption, industrial temperature range and extended lifetime to use for high precision CNC machinery. All complemented by a customized Linux BSP.

What we did

SECO answered to the customer’s request by providing a Qseven® 2.0 compliant module with an NXP i.MX6 Processor, along with a dedicated real time operating system and customized drivers.

Results achieved

Relying on the expertise of its Software Department, SECO successfully managed the software component of this project by developing and maintaining a “real time” operating system and custom drivers. MTBF and FIT analysis were conducted both at a board and system level. “Fit, form and factor” product evolution through time was guaranteed with software porting.
