Easy-to-use video conferencing solution for hybrid meetings

General Information
Airtame creates a simpler, smarter, and more engaging shared screen experience, offering subscription-based solutions for hybrid conferencing, screen sharing, and digital signage. Their platforms are used to promote interactivity and collaboration in meetings, presentations, and classroom settings, as well as for digital signage in retail stores, corporate environments, conference facilities, hotels, and other venues.
Airtame Hub is a high-performance device built for superior screen sharing, signage, and video calls that utilizes the video calling service of your choice. It operates via a Power over Ethernet (PoE+) connection and was designed and built for viewing flexibility - mount it to a wall or place it on a flat surface. Airtame sought to position the Airtame Hub as its premium video conferencing device, providing a highly desirable product in the extremely competitive market for wireless screen sharing, digital signage, and video conferencing hardware.

What challenges we faced
Airtame sought customization of a SECO standard SBC board to meet the Airtame Hub use case.
Key modifications included adding a PoE+ powering option to the main board, customizing the wireless functionality and performance characteristics, and optimizing the board for integration into the Airtame custom industrial design. The product was certified for all key sales regions in the US, Canada, EU, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
New product development in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain crisis introduced some interesting challenges, such as the inabilty to collaborate in-person and shortages of key components. Despite these challenges, the SECO and Airtame development teams maintained close collaboration meeting almost quarterly. This enabled hitting critical project milestones while still having the in-person knowledge transfer that is necessary during the development of a physical product.

What we did
SECO developed the circuit board – a modified version of ADLER SBC based on Intel® Atom® x5-E3940 Processor - and completed certification, test, and transition into mass production.
One of the key success factors was leveraging SECO's global supply chain to source components during the crisis and avoiding delays in development schedule or mass production ramp-up. Close collaboration between the mechanical and electronics teams was also critical to ensure easy transition to final product assembly and quality assurance in production. Hard work, perseverance, and motivation by the certification team also secured the product's compliance with Airtame's key sales market regulations.

Results we achieved
Airtame launched its new hardware product, the Airtame Hub, along with new video conferencing software. This enabled Airtame to expand its product portfolio to include large screens in classrooms and organizations, and to boost the capabilities of the hardware and software offering to their customers. Airtame now has a true cloud-based "platform for screens" for use cases involving video conferencing and hybrid meeting environments, screen sharing, and digital signage.
