SECO Launches New Qseven® 2.1 Carrier Board and Starter Kit Compatible with both x86 and Arm

SECO, a global leader of innovative embedded computing solutions, today announces a new Qseven® Cross Platform Starter Kit that includes the basic components necessary to start developing applications using any Qseven® compliant computer on module (COM).

Compatible with both x86 and Arm processor Qseven® Rel. 2.0 / 2.1 modules, the Q7 STARTER KIT 2.1  features SECO’s new CQ7-D59, a carrier board for Qseven® Rel. 2.0 / 2.1 compliant modules in the 3.5” form factor.

The CQ7-D59 carrier board is equipped with a wide variety of peripherals and interfaces encompassing the Qseven® standard. Network interfaces include up to 2x Gigabit Ethernets via RJ-45 connectors, 1x M.2 Socket 2 2242/3042 Key B Slot for wireless wide area network (WWAN) cellular modem modules connected to an on-board miniSIM slot.

USB connectivity options consist of 2x USB 3.0 host ports on a dual Type-A connector, 1x USB 2.0 host port on a Type-A connector, 1x USB 2.0 host to the on-board WWAN M.2 socket, and 1x USB 2.0 OTG port on a USB micro-AB connector (shared with the USB 2.0 lanes of one of the USB 3.0 hosts). Mass storage is provided by 1x SATA connector with HDD power connector, 1x M.2 Socket 2 2242 Key B SSD Slot, and a microSD Slot on a combo microSD + miniSIM connector.

The CQ7-D59 also comes with many additional interfaces: serial port DB9 connector (via RS232/422/485 transceiver), 16x GPIO signals via a GPIO expander controlled via SMBus or I2C, terminal block for CAN interface (via CAN transceiver), HDMI/DP++ connector, LVDAS/eDP connector, audio header, SPI header, and LPC Bus header, and more. A coin cell battery powers a real time clock and also the CMOS on x86 platforms. The CQ7-D59 also supports the industrial operating temperature range (-40°C to 85°C).

In addition to the carrier board, the Q7 STARTER KIT 2.1 includes: HD audio module, I2S audio module, 24VDC power brick, cable kit, and an adapter for mounting a µQseven® module on the standard Qseven® carrier board.

The Q7 STARTER KIT 2.1 complements SECO’s family of off-the-shelf Qseven® modules , including the recently announced ATLAS – Qseven® Rel. 2.1 compliant module with Intel® Atom® X6000E Series, Intel® Pentium® and Celeron® N and J Series SoCs (formerly Elkhart Lake).

SECO starter and development kits serve as carrier reference designs and development platforms for early proof of concept, prototyping, and software development. SECO clients may utilize carrier board schematics to speed development of application-specific carrier boards.
