SECO and Peridio partner to speed robotics and Physical AI from development to deployment on Qualcomm Dragonwing

Avocado OS will be made available on SECO Dragonwing platforms, starting with IQ-X, IQ8, QCS6490 and IQ-2390, with a focus on robotics and joint preferred support.

SECO S.p.A. (“SECO” or the “Company”) and Peridio, creator of Avocado OS, today announced a collaboration to make Avocado OS available across SECO’s portfolio of solutions based on Qualcomm Dragonwing™ platforms. Avocado OS gives SECO customers a production-ready Linux foundation from the first dev kit, so robotics and Physical AI teams can move from prototype to deployed fleet without building and maintaining their own OS, with a particular focus on robotics and Physical AI applications. The initial rollout covers the SOM-COMe-CT6-Dragonwing-IQ-X, SOM-SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8, and the SOM-SMARC-QCS6490 following the launch of the SOM-COM-HPC-A-Dragonwing-IQ10 and the SBC-Dragonwing-IQ-2390.

SECO and Peridio are both focused on deploying physical AI at scale. With Avocado OS, customers – particularly those building robots, autonomous machines and other Physical AI systems – gain access to a further production-grade, commercially backed industrial Linux distribution, fully validated on SECO hardware. Teams that have already built standards on Avocado OS can bring their software stack to SECO’s Dragonwing platforms easily and confidently.

Customers choosing SECO hardware together with Peridio’s Avocado OS will benefit from preferred support from both companies, with coordinated engineering assistance covering hardware, BSP and operating system, reducing integration risk and shortening time-to-market.

Dario Freddi, Chief Strategy Officer & Managing Director, USA at SECO, said:

“SECO and Peridio share the same vision to provide customers with everything they need to build and scale Physical AI products. With Avocado OS we’re giving more choices to developers by providing and supporting one of the fastest-growing Linux distributions in the market centered around Physical AI use cases. This further reinforces our commitment to an open ecosystem centered around our System on Modules”.

Bill Brock, CEO at Peridio, said:

“Robotics teams don’t ship one board, they ship a matrix of them. SECO has built that matrix on Dragonwing, from SMARC to COM-HPC, from QCS6490 to IQ10. Avocado OS lets a team define its system once and carry it across that range, from dev kit to fleet, with SECO and Peridio both standing behind the BSP”.
