A compact, reliable module and custom firmware for DWDM multiplexers

The customer is the market-leading manufacturer of Wavelength-Division Multiplexing telecommunications equipment (DWDM multiplexers) in the region. The customer is also one of the few companies in the world that designs and manufactures a line of equipment with a channel rate of up to 600 Gbit/s based on DWDM technology. The customer's requirement was for a cost-efficient and reliable long-life computer-on-module with customized firmware for the data aggregator of its Volga DWDM system.

We were able to find a COM that met the client's requirements. For this, we used a μQseven® module and adapted it to the customer's preferences. The module was equipped with an NXP i.MX6 processor and internal SPI flash to work with the correct flash types. Tuning from the PCle to support the customer's equipment and in-house flashing of the firmware to save production time was now also possible with the customizations.

We were successful in this project because we delivered a solution and service that was completely tailored to the customer's requirements. Due to the very high level of precision of the equipment manufactured by the customer, close cooperation was extremely important on this project, especially during the testing phase to identify and resolve any potential problems.
