The Realisation of Innovative Ideas Comes Through the Intersection of Different Worlds Looking in the Same Direction
The ability to offer customers innovative solutions using pioneering technologies is one of the qualities that have allowed SECO to grow consistently over time. To maintain and implement these capabilities SECO has chosen to invest in strategic partnerships with leading international companies, like Intel®, Microsoft®, Google®, AMD®, NXP®, NVIDIA®, Xilinx® and Qualcomm®, participating in exclusive early-access programs in order to guarantee its customers the most innovative solutions.
SECO’s commitment to excellence in technological engineering and a continuous qualitative improvement and definition of industry standards has never wavered. For this it takes part in consortia that define and regulate their specifications – in some cases as a co-founder, as in the case of the Qseven® standard – or through active committee participation.

AN INNOVATIVE ECOSYSTEM
The conception of cutting-edge products and solutions arises from the constant exchange of stimuli and innovative ideas. For SECO, innovation is synonymous with curiosity, imagination, creativity, but also experience and ability at the level of execution in the real implementation of ideas projected into the future.
The constant search for solutions capable of satisfying a continually evolving market has driven SECO to establish a broad network of collaborations with start-ups, innovative companies, universities and research centres all over the world, including the University of Siena, the University of Rome La Sapienza, the University of Singapore, the Polytechnic University of Milan, the University of San Diego, INFN, the ESIE in Paris, the Polytechnic University of Turin, CERN, Carnegie Mellon University, the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, and many others.
A strong orientation toward research and development led SECO in 2007 to co-found, along with the University of Pisa’s Department of Computer Engineering and the Navacchio Technological Hub, the CUBIT Consortium. A place for the synergistic meeting of the academic and business worlds, CUBIT is today the concrete example of a new collaborative model aiming to accelerate the supply process in the sector of telecommunications and wireless technology.
Accelerating the development process towards new high-tech solutions, ranging from the IoT to Industry 4.0: in July 2018 SECO acquired 70% of AiDiLab, a creative laboratory of Interaction Design and IoT. The successful encounter between this young, creative start-up and SECO’s solid, structured industrial group had already born fruit in 2013, when SECO and AiDiLab launched the UDOO project on Kickstarter, an electronics board created for the world of “makers”. In just a few hours it was widely talked about on notable worldwide media outlets and today can count on a community of over 100,000 developers.
And that’s how innovation is born: with the courageous integration between start-ups, industry and academia; with the intersection of different worlds that, looking in the same direction, have succeeded together in building new paths and bridges to connect different and, often, distant sectors. AiDiLab’s acquisition aims to bring innovation into the industrial sector, particularly along the lines of Industry 4.0 and Industry IoT, bringing about the evolution of embedded electronics towards the offering of value-added services linked to machine learning and edge computing, thus providing customers with high technological impact - and thus innovative - solutions.
SECO is an international company whose headquarters and production are located in Arezzo, Italy, but which operates on a global scale with office in Germany, the U.S., India, and Taiwan.
